Faunalia offer a range of training courses, from short introductions to complete courses, for students, professionals and developers, in any country, in English, French, Italian or Portuguese. We have one of the longest and widest experiences in teaching free and Open Source GIS worldwide, having undertaken more than 130 courses and seminars.

WebMapping training course

Key to the success of any GIS (Geographic Information System) is the human factor. A competent and motivated team is the core of any efficient Information System.

Each of our courses is based around a series of practical exercises, allowing participants to gain real experience. The courses are self contained but can easily be linked together to provide a complete suite. All software packages in question are cross-platform, working effectively on all major operating systems (GNU/Linux, Unix, Mac OS X, BSD and MS Windows).

By the end of each training course, participants should be able to install and feel comfortable using each application and produce various types of output, either on paper or digitally (depending on the application).

Each course contains approximately 8 hours of learning / day. Participants are recommended to bring a laptop onto which the required software will be installed during the course. Faunalia training laptops are also available on request.

As well as running scheduled courses periodically across the UK, we can also offer fully customisable training to suit your requirements, from introductory orientation seminars to full courses.

Open Source GIS technologies are increasingly gaining support due to great advances in both their functionality and ease-of-use in recent years but also in part due to the high cost of proprietary software. Faunalia hopes to contribute to an expansion in adoption of free GIS software.
